Commuter Orientation 2016

Hello, incoming commuter students!
Welcome to Victoria College! We’re so excited that you picked Vic and we can’t wait to get to know you! At Vic, we strive to provide commuter students with a comprehensive experience to integrate you into the Victoria College community. Now, you may be wondering, “What is a commuter student?” A commuter student is anyone not living in residence. So whether you live 10 minutes away or two hours away, you are a commuter student! “But what if I’m the only commuter at Vic? How am I going to make friends or find my way around?” Don’t fret — more than 75% of Vic is made up of commuter students! And not only that, but we are also one of the only colleges in the University of Toronto to offer extended programming exclusively for commuter students. We got your back!

What is Commuter Orientation?
Prior to September’s Orientation Week, Commuter Orientation is a weekend filled with fun programming for commuter students! This year, it’s running from Saturday, August 13th to Sunday, August 14th. All students who register for Commuter Orientation are provided with a room to stay in for Saturday night, food for the weekend and the chance to meet and interact with other first year students, and upper year leaders! Activities planned include talks on university life, information sessions, tours, socials, and a whole lot of fun! Commuter Orientation hopes to create a community among commuter students and help integrate them into Vic campus life.

Why should I participate in Comm-O?
We have five reasons why you should!

  1. You’ll have the chance to meet a lot of people, many of whom you will see on campus once classes start!

  2. You’ll have the chance to have a more intimate orientation experience, with only around 100 students!

  3. You’ll get to stay overnight in one of our residences, with all meals provided!

  4. You’ll get to meet your fantastic Commuter Orientation co-chairs! (Kidding, but you will get to interact with a lot of upper year commuter students who can show you the ropes around Vic and U of T!

And finally…

  1. You’ll have a lot of fun!
