Frequently Asked Questions by Commuters

What if I can’t come to Commuter Orientation?

Don’t worry! Victoria College offers a lot of commuter activities during the year. One of the many ways to get involved in the Vic community is by attending events sponsored by the Commuter Dons, and the Victoria Off-Campus Association (VOCA). These events include free weekly pancake breakfasts, outings, and socials.  There are also a variety of clubs available on campus (everything from sports to journalism.)

If I come to Commuter Orientation, can I still come to Orientation in September?

Yes, our Orientation Week in September is for everyone. We also provide commuters with the chance to stay in residence (free of charge!) during the week.  If you wish to stay in residence during Orientation Week, please indicate this when filling out the online registration form.

Are meals included during Commuter Orientation?

Yes, your $35 fee is the only thing you need to pay for the weekend. Have breakfast before you check-in, and bring some extra cash for snacks or a coffee, but otherwise we’ve got you covered. There is a free lunch and dinner on Saturday, and a free breakfast and lunch on Sunday!

What about meals during Orientation Week?

There are some free meals provided during Orientation Week, as indicated on the schedule, but for the rest we recommend the commuter meal plan for the week

Sample Commuter Meal Plan

  • 4 meals at Burwash Dining Hall + 30 VicDollars = $75 (tax included)

VicDollars can be used at Burwash Dining Hall and also in the Wymilwood Café.  Plans may be purchased by bringing payment and your T–Card to the Margaret Addison Hall front desk during or after the Commuter Orientation weekend. More information on Victoria’s Food Services can be found on the Victoria University Food Services Website.

Please note that the Commuter Meal Plan expires on September 30th, 2011.
