annnnd here we go!
Alrighty! My name is Shoaib Alli, and I am one of the members of the 2011 Orientation Exec team! I have been tasked with writing a blog for you all to read, but informational blogs are somewhat boring….so, while I will attempt to have some info things in here at some points (and rest assured that there WILL be way more info for you guys to read throughout the site over the course of the summer, as well as physically available for you when you come to Vic), I think my blog is going to try and be a little more interesting.
I am always reminded of the following .gif file when I read the title of this post:
It’s awesome, right? …right? Okay, fine, not everyone likes the Joker. I’ll be honest, neither do I….I much prefer Two-Face. Can you tell I’m a Batman/comic book fan yet?No? Whew.
But, in all seriousness, if you’re reading this blog, chances are you’re someone who is trying to find out more about Orientation Week 2011. We haven’t gotten the theme down yet, but as soon as we do, I will update the site accordingly (because, you know, websites are my thing). Even now, you’re able to find mostly anything that you want, when you go to the various drop down menus above there. I highly encourage you guys to email vic.orientation@utoronto.ca with any questions, or even just go to http://vicorientation.ca/contact/ and get in touch with us that way. I promise, I am a friendly person, and so is Evan (our Co-Chair)! One thing of note (but don’t tell him I told you this): he highly enjoys 24. You know, the tv show, with Jack Bauer doing pretty much whatever he wants. I will admit, Jack Bauer is a badass. But, I digress; Evan loves 24…make sure to bring it up with him at some point, he loves talking about it…and, honestly, so do I.
Nevertheless, you’ve made the right decision in coming here to Victoria College. I’m going to be starting my 4th year come September (yikes!), and I can say with complete honesty that it is one of my favourite places to be in the whole world. Everyone is friendly, there are opportunities for every student (no matter your disposition or interests), and it’s also simply a beautiful place to be. I look forward to giving you guys more stuff to read about in the blog over the summer…and, yes, I promise that the image I use for my blog posts will be replaced with something more interesting than just a quill…hehe. Enjoy for now!
